FoB – Friends of Burnopfield (formerly the PTA)
“The importance of a good relationship between a school and its parents and carers is considerable. Ofsted places significant emphasis on this and since September our school inspections have included a specific judgement about the effectiveness of a school’s engagement with parents and carers. A strong PTA can make an important contribution to building these productive relationships.” Patrick Leeson, Director, Education Ofsted.
Who are we?
Every member of the local community is a FoB. We welcome help and support from parents, carers, guardians, family members, childminders and local businesses.
The core committee consists of Melanie Meadows (Chair) Paul Ensell (Treasurer), Angela Punton, Becky West, Helen Kelleher and Helen Stott.
Events and activities
- Christmas nativity programmes and raffle
- Valentine’s disco
- Smarties tubes
- Easter egg competition
- Sports day raffle
- The Great Burnopfield Bake Off
We are also considering a number of further events and always welcome ideas and suggestions from you. Offers of help are also always welcome!
We are aiming to raise sufficient funds to provide the school with a Trim Trail (an outdoor gym). If any local business would like to sponsor all or part of this we would be most grateful. We estimate this to cost in the region of £10,000. This is a massive target, but not unachievable.
What your money has provided so far
Every year we support the Year 6 prom. The children have a fabulous time and this is a lovely way to thank them for their hard work and to wish them well for the future. This year sounds like it will be spectacular!
We have funded one of the scooter racks which will be installed shortly.
We have purchased ovens for the children to use – cooking is a core part of the new Primary curriculum and they are used by the children regularly.
We have most recently purchased a set of disco lights and a smoke machine for use at school discos. This was used at the Christmas disco and a student commented that it was the “best disco ever – and I normally hate discos!!!”
We are investigating some storage for the children’s outdoor equipment in Nursery so the scooters and bikes can be kept safe, clean and dry.
ALL OF THIS IS POSSIBLE THROUGH YOUR GENEROSITY – THANK YOU.
We understand that time is precious and people cannot commit to meetings. However if you can offer any ideas, resources, offers of raffle prizes, volunteering to help at school events or any good business contacts – then please contact us. Leave a message at reception, email firstname.lastname@example.org, grab one of us in the yard or find one of us on Facebook!
