Meet the Year 2 Teachers
Hello everyone and welcome to Year 2.
This year our Year 2 team is Miss Peacock, Mrs Matthews, Mrs Heseltine and Mrs Abbott and we are all looking forward to meeting you in the near future. My name is Miss Peacock and I will be your teacher next year. I am sure you all know me from STAR assemblies on a Friday celebrating your achievements.
I have been teaching at Burnopfield School for 28 years so I may have taught your older brothers and sisters or even some of your parents! I have taught in many different year groups across both key stages but in recent years I have been Key Stage 1 Leader and taught in Year 2, which is my favourite year group.
I have lived in Burnopfield all my life so I know lots about the village and our local community. I even came to Burnopfield Primary School as pupil just like you. I love watching cricket and often go to Burnopfield Cricket Club where my dad and brother played for many years. I like to keep fit by swimming a going for walks. One of my favourite areas to walk with my family is along the Northumberland coast near Dunstanburgh. In December my partner and I became grandparents for the first time so now we enjoy baby-sitting duties and spending fun times with our lovely little granddaughter. I hope you are just as excited to meet me as I am to meet you as I have heard so many good things about you all from Miss Oxnard.
Hello I am Mrs Matthews and this year I am going to be your class teacher and we will have Mrs Heseltine with us on a morning. Most of you will know me from your time in Reception and you will know Mrs Heseltine from when she covered for Miss Bingley on a Monday afternoon.
I have been teaching at Burnopfield Primary School since 2005 and have spent the last year teaching Year 2. I started my teaching career teaching Year 2 and it has been great to come back into this year group.
As you might remember I qualified as a Zumba instructor and in February this year I completed so more training and are now a qualified Zumba Kids instructor too. In my spare time I still like to take part in classes and have had the opportunity to teach my own classes and hopefully when everything has settled down I am looking into setting up a community kid’s class near to where I live.
I like to spend time walking in the countryside or visiting beaches with my family and our 2 dogs Rosie and Skye. Skye is a new addition and has recently celebrated her 1st birthday with us.
I hope you are just as excited to join my class as I am to meet you all again and we are going to have some fun exploring the topics we have planned for you.
